“Muslims helping other Muslims become better Muslims”

For decades, the Muslim Youth Group of the Islamic Center of Southern California has cultivated the American Muslim identity in adolescents and young adults.

MYG was founded in the 70′s by a conscious group of individuals, among them Dr. Maher Hathout, who recognized that the fate of Islam in America was in the hands of the youth. At the core of this group’s values was the belief that the youth would serve not as a private circle for the “religious elite,” but as an open space for all types of Muslim youth and adolescence.

In keeping with this spirit, today’s Muslim Youth Group of the ICSC is committed to the same principles of providing a welcoming environment and engaging generations of Muslim hearts, minds, and souls.

The heart of the MYG is our weekly meetings. We meet every Sunday at 11am to 1pm. Our meetings are open and welcome to all! Besides our weekly meetings, the MYG also has charity, social, arts, and educational events throughout the year. We hold a Ski Trip in the winter and a spiritual retreat in the Fall.

Constitution.

We the people of the MYG hold these truths to be self-evident, that there is no God but Allah, and Muhammad is his Messenger. Holding the Qur’an as our guide, we promise to be the best products of whatever tribe we came from, forming one tribe (Ummah) in this room. We take it upon ourselves to gain the knowledge of Islam and use it to uplift our community and our country, America.

We the people of the MYG promise to treat each other like family. In our space all members have the right to express themselves. We promise to respect the faith of our fellow Muslims and the faiths of others.
